November 17 On the Farm Cooking Class

I am so excited to wind up this season’s On the Farm Cooking Classes at New Town Farms in Waxhaw NC. The November 17 class is from 2-5pm. We still have room for you to join in all the fun!
My friends, farmers Sammy and Melinda Koenigsberg are our hosts. Despite the rainy weather of late, we are expecting blue skies for the farm tour. After actually seeing where our food comes from, we’ll head back into the farm kitchen to cook. On the menu: lots of leafy greens, root veggies, New Town’s delicious Ossabaw pork and other wonderful local food and drink.
Sammy’s tour and talk will change the way you think about your food and you’ll love the wine pairings from Elizabeth Dover at Dover Vineyards in Concord NC. Cost is $85 per person; and you still have time to make your reservation! Email me NOW at HLNC@carolina.rr.com to reserve your spot!
November and December Holiday Classes
Here’s the lineup. On Sunday November 18, I’m planning on another Grilled Cheese class. On Sunday Nov 25, just about the time the leftovers are running out, I’ve got a great Chili class on the books. Then, in December I’ve got two holiday Hors D’oeuvre Classes on the calendar: Sat Dec 1 and Thurs Dec 13 – Details and links to make your reservations here
And She Caters, Too!
Come to both of the hors d’oeuvre classes and you should be well on your way to planning lots of holiday fun. Don’t want to cook, no worries! Just give me a shout as I’d be delighted help – did you know I cater, too?

I am delighted to cater any event, large or small, from a casual holiday brunch to hors d’oeuvres and cocktails to a more formal seated dinner in your home or office. Menus are planned to suit your individual group and the occasion. Like my cooking classes, everything I cook with for your catered event will be locally sourced or an organic alternative.
If you’d like to get a date on the calendar for a fun holiday soiree – or any other occasion you’d like to celebrate with friends and family, I’m here to help, simply email me, at HLNC@carolina.rr.com and we’ll get things going!
Why Not Plan a November or December Private Cooking Classes
If you and your friends like to cook, why not invite guests to enjoy a tailor-made cooking class to celebrate the season.

I’d love to plan a private cooking class for your group in your own kitchen or in mine – complete with printed recipes and an assistant to help with clean-up, so you can enjoy the party, too.
Private classes can be done in a demonstration style or a hands-on format in which your friends can learn to chop, simmer and sauté, doing all of the cooking themselves. After the cooking is done, sit back and relax, enjoying the fruits of your labors with a wine paired to match each course.
Its Always About the Local Food and Drink
My cooking classes are all hands-on events and I use as much locally grown and sourced product as is available, shopping at local farmers markets for all of our ingredients. When I can’t find local product, I opt for organic product, so we will all know what is in the food we are eating.
Its always tons of fun. In each class we prepare 4-5 different recipes to make a meal. Everyone gets in on the act, everyone gets to eat, I include wine pairings with every dish and everyone goes home with a complete recipe packet, and coupons for lots of the local product we use in class!
To make reservations for any of the classes posted here or to design your own private cooking class – just email me for details and we’ll get a date on the calendar.
Turkey Tips and Recipes for November’s Big Feast
Even after a cooking class, with the turkey and all the Thanksgiving holiday trimmings right around the corner, you may be feeling a bit down to the wire.
Don’t panic. Panicking never helps anything. Take a deep breathe and take it one thing, one day at a time. Don’t worry, you are not alone.
To help ease the tension about the “what-to-buy” and the “how-to-cook-it” part of this holiday season, I’m sharing some of my favorite Thanksgiving recipes and turkey tips, too…. you’ll find everything you need in my annual Turkey Tips post
