Holiday Bake Sale to help with WNC Hurricane Helene Relief

‘Tis the season; time to bake the cookies. What? You’ve got no time to bake? Whew! Lucky for you, just in time to save the day, the Les Dames d’Escoffier NC Holiday Bake Sale is back for 2024. The time to order is NOW!

Les Dames d’Escoffier is an international group of women supporting women in the food, beverage & hospitality industries. Each state as a chapter. The commitment is to Education and Leadership; Fundraising and Philanthropy; and Support and Celebration.

This year, Les Dames d’Escoffier NC are proud to announce the return of our Holiday Cookie Sale. I’m proud to be a member of Les Dames North Carolina chapter. This is a group of amazing North Carolina culinarians who always get the job done and support their communities in the process.

Eat Cookies; Gift Cookies and Support this Annual Holiday Bake Sale

This season, not only will you and your family and friends get a real treat when you purchase the fresh baked assorted cookie boxes; but you’ll be giving back as well. For a $28 donation, you’ll receive one beautiful box filled with 13 assorted holiday goodies—cookies, bars, brownies, and more.

Some of the cookies in the Holiday Bake Sale boxes this year include an assortment of Macarons in holiday flavors, Brown Butter – Brown Sugar Maple Cookies, Classic Chocolate Chunk cookies, Chocolate-Dipped Coconut Macaron, Triple Chocolate Brownies, Snowballs, Peppermint Meringue Kisses, Gingerbread Biscotti, Butterscotch Shortbread, Spiced Orange Rrumble, and Chewy Gingerbread. Wow!!

You may, of course, order as many boxes of these assorted sweets as you would like.

Or, you may simply make a donation to this Les Dames fund-raising effort. The proceeds from the sale will all go to raise funds for folks affected by Hurricane Helene. Les Dames NC WNC Hurricane Relief Fund will support several carefully vetted, boots-on-the-ground organizations that are doing excellent work in our Southern Appalachian communities.

“The recovery phase, post-Helene, will be a marathon, not a sprint.” “Generous donations not only offers hope, but also sends a clear message that the people of Swannanoa are worthy of relief and the town of Swannanoa and surrounding areas are worth rebuilding. Support will have a meaningful impact on our ability to meet the immediate, evolving and ongoing needs of the Swannanoa Valley community.”

– Bounty & Soul Founder and Executive Director, Ali Casparian

All proceeds from the Les Dames 2024 Holiday Bake Sale will benefit these three wonderful organizations, each one of them doing an amazing job to help their communities:

  • Equal Plates — based in Asheville supports local farmers, addresses food insecurity, and builds community through scratch-cooked meals.
  • Bounty and Soul – a smaller, local nonprofit focusing relief efforts in Swannanoa, Asheville, and Black Mountain.
  • Food Connection – Another small local nonprofit providing relief meals to rural areas in Western North Carolina.

Every box you purchase ( and each donation you make to Les Dames’ efforts) will go to these organizations to help communities recover and rebuild.

The sale is taking place Now through Dec 13. To order, simply click on this link and place your order – its as easy as that!

Inspired?

Want to host a little Holiday Bake Sale to help with Hurricane Helene Relief yourself?

Since kids will be home from school for the holidays, why not get them involved as well? Here is a link to one of my favorite cookie recipes. I baked several batches with my 5-year old niece Emory, for this article, penned for Charlotte Parent online, magazine, earlier this year.

Once you host your own Holiday Bake Sale, you may still contribute funds to Les Dames, to any of the relief efforts listed in this post or those I frequently list on my social media feeds. There are many.

Be assured rebuilding the Western part of North Carolina will continue through the holidays and well into the new year. Specific needs continue to change – it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
